U11 Raiders - Minehead, 1 - 4 May 2009 The Raiders went on a self funded trip to Minehead, Somerset, to play in a tournament that attracted teams from all over the UK.
As usual the team did themselves & the club proud by getting through to the semi-finals of the tournament. In each
age group a 'Golden Ball Award' was given for something outstanding and the Raiders team was picked with a very
happy Luke Jones receiving it for scoring a great hat trick in one of
the games. A fantastic weekend away was had by all the parents and
kids.
Once again well done the Raiders!!
Chorleywood 2009 - 17 May We had three teams at the tournament this year, U7 Rooks, U9 Rebels & U11 Raiders. Places for U8 & U10 were snapped up almost as soon as the tournament was announced so apologies to those teams that missed out.
U7 Rooks This was the Rooks first experience of playing in these 6 a-side, 5 mins each way, tournament matches. There is no time to settle into the match, you have to start fast and the Rooks learnt their lesson fast. After losing the first match 1-0, they came back with two wins & a draw. Even though everybody felt sore about losing the first game, the definately showed thay are a team for the future. Well done boys!
U9 Rebels The Rebels won one of their matches 5 - 0, which could have been the highest score of the tournament. Very good going for such short matches. However it did not all go the Rebels way as they narrowly missed qualifying from the group for the knock out stage. Well done boys and remember that great win.
U11 Raiders As an under 11 team, Ricky & Steve have a big squad, a squad that won the league without dropping a point all season. Tournament rules meant that sadly, some of the championship winning side could not play. None the less, it was clear from the first group stage match that the boys there meant business.
The Raiders won all their group matches, eased through the semis and won the final 3 - 0.
Outstanding, well done the Raiders!
Evergreen 2009 - 21 June - Abbots Langley All our teams will play and all matches from U7 to U11 are in the morning, so this is a chance for us to socialise as a club and for each of our teams to have great support during their matches.
all for the love of football
